A Cesna 182 airplane with two passengers on board crashed Monday afternoon as it was landing at the airport in South Lake Tahoe, injuring one person, according to South Lake Tahoe Fire and Rescue.
The crash was reported at 1:22 p.m. Numerous agencies, including South Lake Tahoe Fire and Rescue, South Lake Tahoe Police Department and the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office responded.
One person was taken to the hospital with injuries according to South Lake Tahoe Fire and Rescue. Their condition is unknown at this time. The names, ages and hometown of the two on board are not known at this time.
People inside the Flight Deck restaurant at the airport were waiting for the people on board to arrive and immediately rushed to the scene according to bystanders.
The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are responding to the scene for an investigation.
