The life of local golf legend and PGA Professional Jim Kepler will be celebrated on June 29 at Dayton Valley Golf Course. Jim passed away unexpectedly at his home on April 29th. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his lasting impact on the local golf community and for the many lives he touched through the game.
Jim began his golfing journey by playing for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Golf Team. Over the course of his 40-year career, he managed multiple golf courses across Northern Nevada and had been the principal owner of Dayton Valley Golf Course since 2020. He was a dedicated supporter of amateur and junior golf programs, and his passion for the game helped inspire countless players over the years. Among his many honors, Jim was named Northern California PGA Professional of the Year in 2009.
More than anything, Jim loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and a loyal friend to so many. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Julie, whom he adored. He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Kepler Young, son James Kepler Jr, bothers Dave and Bill Kepler, and grandchildren Troy and Jordyn Kepler.
Jim’s life will be celebrated by family and friends on June 29 at Dayton Valley Golf Course. Family will be welcomed at 11:00 a.m., with friends and colleagues joining at 1:00 p.m.
