Carson City continues to work through the details of the proposed City Hall and Parking Garage project.
While the City had previously outlined a schedule for bringing the draft agreements to the Board of Supervisors, additional time is needed to complete negotiations, review the information, and ensure the City is making well-informed decisions.
A project of this size involves many moving parts, including financing, construction costs, legal agreements, and long-term financial commitments.
Each of these deserves careful consideration before decisions are made.
“Our goal is not simply to meet a date on the calendar. Our goal is to make sure we have accurate information, understand the costs and obligations, and have completed the due diligence necessary to enable the best decisions for Carson City,” said City Manager Glen Martel. “That means asking questions, reviewing details, and taking the time needed to get the answers right.”
The City continues to work with the Hop and Mae Foundation on the proposed agreements.
Staff will bring information forward for public discussion and Board consideration when it is sufficiently complete to allow for a meaningful review.
“Understandably, residents want to know what is happening with this project; we want to keep everyone informed,” Martel added. “But we also believe it is important not to rush the process or establish deadlines that could interfere with a thorough review. The community deserves thoughtful discussions based on solid information.”
The City remains committed to transparency throughout the process and will provide additional updates as additional information becomes available.
