The Carson City Host Lions celebrated the 21st Annual Crab Feed on Saturday evening, March 26th at Fuji Park with a special ceremony honoring local heroes. Four people were honored for their actions saving lives in 2021.

Kayla Sue Testa was honored for her actions on June 23, 2021 when a car crashed through the doors at Sportsmen’s Warehouse in the Carson Mall. Miss Testa was a clerk at Sportsmen’s who saved a toddler in the path of the oncoming car.

Three men were honored in saving the life of Lana Harding on November 23, 2021 in the horrific aftermath of the collision that involved eight vehicles including a 44-foot-yacht and an overloaded 2017 Ford F-350 pickup that lost its brakes on the way down the Spooner Highway.

Four men, one of whom remains unidentified, worked to pull Ms. Harding from a burning vehicle. Mayor Lori Bagwell presented plaques of appreciation to honor Gary Reeves, Jim Smith, and Allen Robinson on behalf of the Lions Club. The fourth unidentified man, remains an unsung hero.

The Crab Feed was attended by nearly 400 people, and was held in partnership with Greater Nevada Credit Union. Carson Tahoe Health was recognized as a first-time Silver Lion Partner.

Dozens of raffle prizes and silent auction items were donated by the Carson City business community. Proceeds from the event are used by the Carson City Host Lions to support vision preservation, youth development, diabetes awareness, and other programs aimed at assisting the citizens of Carson City.

The Carson City Host Lions are part of Lions Clubs International, the world’s largest service organization.
