On Friday, January 24, 2025, the Carson City Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge #2177 held a Flannel and Frost fund-raising event at the Governor’s Mansion that raised over $17,000 for the local Night Off the Streets (NOTS) Warming Center, and the Elks then contributed $6,000 to NOTS from a Beacon and Spotlight Grant awards.
This will help NOTS to continue their unending work for the poor, distressed and underprivileged, while also lessening the burden to the Sheriff’s Office arresting the unhoused when they trespass or try to stay warm in one of the city’s businesses.
The NOTS warming center provides a safe place to sleep for the night so no one freezes to death.
They also provide a support system to help them move from homelessness to productive members of Carson City.
Year to date the Elks Lodge has raised almost $18,000 for NOTS, enabling them to continue their great work.
