Carson Animal Services Initiative, also known as CASI, is helping people and pets through its low-cost voucher program, Critter Fixer, and invites pet lovers to help by purchasing tickets to its upcoming Bark, Whine and Dine in April.
Did you know the average mature cat can have up to three litters per year, and dogs up to two litters per year? Many of these animals find themselves abandoned or in shelters as there are simply not enough homes for them all. Although spaying and neutering can easily help solve this problem, pet owners sometimes don’t have the necessary funds.
That’s where Carson Animal Services Initiative (CASI) can help. Founded in 2012 to help raise funds to build Carson City’s new animal shelter, CASI is now focused on supporting programs throughout the area that help improve the lives of animals and the people who care for them. One of these programs is Critter Fixer, which provides affordable spay and neuter services to low-income pet owners. How does the program work?
CASI raises money to help fund Critter Fixer and teams with local veterinarians. Pet owners who can’t afford to spay or neuter their pets can contact CASI to learn if they qualify for the program. Those pet owners who do qualify pay a small co-pay and are referred to one of the program’s veterinarians.
