The Nevada State Police Highway Patrol calls upon all Nevadans to prioritize safety during their festivities this Super Bowl weekend.

Historically, this weekend sees a significant increase in impaired driving incidents nationwide. In 2022, 13,524 traffic deaths involved drunk driving, according to the National Highway Transportation Administration.

Data indicates that on Super Bowl Sunday, occurrences of drunk driving are 22% higher than any other typical Sunday, according to Powered By Partners.

Additionally, distracted driving incidents have been observed to increase during Super Bowl Sunday, as drivers may check their phones for game updates or engage in other distractions, according to The Sun newspaper.

To ensure a safe Super Bowl Sunday:

  • Plan Ahead: Arrange for a sober driver, utilize ride-sharing services, or use public transportation.
Impairment is impairment, driving under the influence of any substance is illegal and dangerous. • Stay Alert: Avoid distractions such as texting or checking game updates while driving.
  • Look Out for One Another: If you see someone attempting to drive impaired, intervene by helping them find a safe way home.
The Nevada Highway Patrol will increase patrols and DUI checkpoints throughout the state to deter and address impaired driving. Our goal is to ensure that everyone reaches their destinations safely.
One bad decision can cost you everything. No game is worth your life.
