The Carson City Chamber of Commerce, community dignitaries, representatives from the Carson Mall and others gathered Wednesday night at the new Wild Horse Gallery and Decor store inside the Carson Mall.

Owner Sheila Hillebrand entertained guests with hors d’oeuvres, refreshments and live music in celebration of her gallery’s expansion to Carson City from Virginia City, where she still runs the original business on C Street.

Hillebrand opened her Wild Horse Gallery in Carson City before Christmas, settling into 1,400 square feet of retail space that has given her three times more room than her Virginia City location.

Wild Horse Gallery and Decor specializes in western-themed prints of oil paintings, some of which come with certificates of authenticity. There are also military and first responder-themed prints, as well as those reflecting traditional Americana.

Hillebrand said she uses a regional craftsman who makes his own custom frames by hand and does his own matting for the prints she sells.

In addition to framed prints, Wild Horse Gallery carries a selection of home decor, she said, including lamps made locally by artist Bill Eisele.

“He hand-makes everything, goes out in the hills and finds all these great pieces,” she said. “He’s right here in Carson.”

Hillebrand said selling local products that are not only USA-made but also produced regionally is an important part of her business.

“People want things that are locally made and represent Nevada,” she said. “They love it, and they’re glad somebody’s here in the mall locally.”

Complimentary delivery is offered by Wild Horse Gallery and Decor, Hillebrand said.

“If they can’t fit it in their car, I’ll deliver for free,” she said.
