All points with the exception of Reid’s money are well taken, but as brutal and painful as it may sound salaries and fringe benefits make up a large percent of state budgets be they state agencies, k-12 or higher education. Without revenue adjustments, something has to give and whatever the ultimate decision is will have a cascading effect on the individual persons impacted, the business community and ultimately a city government that is struggling to provide necessary services.
My exception to the Reid comment is the impression is given that those funds would solve the problem. They would not even take care of one day of the problem.
