The Carson City School District is pleased to report that all samples taken from water fountains and fixtures at school sites had lead levels well below the project Action Level for drinking water. The water quality threshold for lead in drinking water is expressed as an Action Level, which in this case is 20 micrograms per liter or higher (ug/L, also known as parts per billion).

Western communities are facing effects of a warming climate with slower and earlier snowmelt reducing streamflows and possibly the amount of water reaching reservoirs used for drinking water and agriculture, according to a study published in July.

Sink hole on Jacks Valley Road forces closure, boil water order

UPDATE 3:30PM From Douglas County Public Works: The water line has been located, but it is 15 foot deep with a gas line in the excavation hole and unmarked fiber optic lines running parallel to the edge of pavement along the old road bed. Therefore efforts are currently limited to the use of a vactor truck for excavation. It is anticipated that the crews will be working into the night to make the leak repair.
Jacks Valley Road will remain closed until the repair is complete.

A broken water line opened a six foot sink hole on Jacks Valley Road north of Genoa on Saturday. The hole is located between Montaña and the first entrance to Genoa Lakes Golf Course forcing a road closure, according to Douglas County Public Works officials.

The Prescription Round Up in Carson City held last Saturday brought in 166 pound of medicine, and nearly 30 pounds of syringes, according to Partnership Carson City. The event was held at all three SaveMarts and Smith's.
