Greater Nevada Credit Union, a Carson City-based credit union serving northern Nevada, contributes $25,000 as the first corporate sponsor and financial institution to the Audacity Fund Reno, which provides funding, education and support to local business owners from underserved populations.

Greater Nevada Credit Union contributes $30,000 to Fire Disaster Relief

CARSON CITY — To assist with disaster relief during this devastating fire season, Greater Nevada Credit Union has donated $30,000 to three different credit unions coordinating relief efforts in California and Oregon. Rogue Credit Union Foundation in Medford, Ore.; Redwood Credit Union Community Fund in Santa Rosa, Calif.; and Sierra Central Credit Union in Yuba City, Calif. will each receive $10,000 to assist with ongoing relief efforts.

Greater Commercial Lending, An SBA Paycheck Protection Program Preferred Lender

Greater Commercial Lending (GCL) continues to accept applications for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), authorized by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) as a result of the recently enacted Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act). The company is one of the earliest business lenders to fully adopt the PPP in the State of Nevada since opening applications on Friday, April 3. By mid-day on Monday, April 6, over 400 Nevada businesses had submitted applications to GCL.

Carson City students win scholarships from Greater Nevada Credit Union

Carson City residents Ryan Doherty, Marcella Rico, and Maddison Saarem are three of 19 students recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship certificate from Greater Nevada Credit Union.

Ninety-three students throughout northern Nevada applied for the scholarship program, which GNCU has offered for the past 15 years. Doherty will be attending University of Redlands in California, Rico will be attending Western Nevada College, and Sareem will be attending University of Nevada, Reno.

Carson City residents Ila Bottoms, Arnold Flores, Leana Garcia, Allison Blair, and Janae Johnston-Bucker are five of 14 students recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship certificate from Greater Nevada Credit Union.

Seventy students throughout northern Nevada applied for the scholarship program, which GNCU has offered for the past 14 years. Bottoms and Flores are attending Western Nevada College; Garcia is attending Great Basin College in Elko; Blair and Johnston-Bucker will be attending the University of Nevada, Reno.

CARSON CITY — Wally Murray, president and CEO of Greater Nevada Credit Union was honored as the outgoing Nevada Credit Union League board chairman during the League’s recent annual meeting and convention.

During the convention, the Nevada Credit Union League received a national award for its outstanding advocacy efforts. Greater Nevada Credit Union was also recognized by the California and Nevada Credit Union League and awarded Nevada Credit Union Advocate of the Year.

Nineteen employees from Greater Nevada Credit Union’s Carson City branches and offices were recognized for their outstanding contributions during the company’s annual employee training and recognition event last month.

Sixteen Northern Nevada high school graduates were recently awarded $1000 scholarships from Greater Nevada Credit Union. Over 100 students applied for the program which the Credit Union has offered to local students for the past decade.
