Good morning, Carson City, on this first day of February. Our area has been enjoying Spring-like weather and temperatures all week long. Today will be no different, so enjoy the pleasant conditions while they last.

A series of storms is forecast to move into our region Saturday, dropping temperatures as well as rain and snow. As the photo suggests, rain in the morning is a sailor's warning, so batten down those hatches.

We're looking forward to an eventful weekend ahead as a winter storm is building and is expected to bring snow to the Sierra and rain and snow showers to the valley floor. Hello Carson City. Today is the middle of the work week, Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019. Time to start thinking about those weekend plans, especially if they involve travel as weather changes are ahead and snow is expected in the Sierra by Saturday. As for today, enjoy the sunshine. The weather service says expect partly sunny skies and a high of 55.

The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls is a youth service organization for girls between the ages of 11– 20, established in 1922 and we are hosting a Valentine's painting party for the community to attend, suggested age 5 and up. We will be at the Carson Lodge, 113 Washington St., Carson City on Feb. 16.

CARSON CITY — Tell Me You Love Me Short Romance Film competition is now open for registration. Starting on Wednesday, Jan. 30, registered filmmakers will have exactly one week to conceive, write, produce and complete a short romance film that’s between 5- and 9-minutes long.

All of the films will be screened at a special dinner and screening event at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City on Valentine's Day.

Come find items at our Four Season Bazaar to be held on March 17, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Something for Spring, Summer, Fall, Christmas as well as Valentines, St. Patrick, Easter, birthdays and other occasions gift needs. This Bazaar will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Family Church, 1202 Saliman Rd. Carson City, Next to Carson High School.

Dutch Bros coffee in Carson City has partnered with Food for Thought with a "DutchLuv" fundraiser on Wednesday, Valentine's Day.

The Carson City Library is seeking the public’s help in sending a message to city supervisors: Be Mine. Or something along those lines.

This week's edition of It's Your City is about love stories and films, and short films we'd love to see made that are love stories. The Carson City area digital arts community known as Wired Wednesday, in partnership with the Brewery Arts Center, will host an all-new film competition this year in the spirit of Valentine's Day.

When making out the list of friends and loved ones who will receive a Valentine this year, Carson City residents may consider one addition: The library.

In only two weeks a few volunteers sold lotion bars from Jordan Essentials Bath and Body products and raised $300.00 for the cats at CATMANDU! I want to thank everyone who participated and also those who bought lotion bars. It was fun and easy and the bars will be here for Valentines Day!

This may be ‘the day that music died’ back in 1959, but Carson City wants you to find your dancing shoes tonight. Beginning swing dance lessons will be held at El Charro Avitas; go check out their brand new dance floor. Country Line dancing is taught at the 11th Frame lounge at Carson Lanes every Tuesday and Wednesday. Jimmy Mallett and Jack Clifton will be at Living the Good Life Nightclub and Bistro channeling all the swank of the rat pack.

The 16th Annual Feast of Chocolate at the Carson City Plaza Hotel and Event Center will be held, appropriately Valentine's Day, Saturday, Feb. 14 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $15 at the front desk of the Plaza Hotel or $18 at the door. The event is hosted by the American Association of University Women, which empowers women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. Money raised will go to scholarships.

This bald eagle staged an early morning Valentine's visit to southeast Carson City in the Bennett Ave./S. Edmonds Dr. area.
He was out there for over an hour. Two days ago, while on a hike, I saw a bald eagle soaring over the Edmonds Park area - he was being escorted back to the west side by our resident golden eagle.
