Carson Little League thanks our Community for their awesome support
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 08/22/2012 - 6:59pmI wanted to take some time to send out a special thank you to the awesome Businesses and people in our community who helped support our Junior and Senior Little League All Stars advancement to the Western Regional Tournaments in Vancouver WA and Ontario, CA this year! With out their support this would not have been possible for these fine athletes. Our Juniors (13-14 year olds) and Seniors (15-16 year olds) both Finished 1 and 3 in their tournaments and failed to advance to the Little League World Series but had an experience that most kids never have had.

The Hyacinth Preservation Society must raise $5,000 to keep our organization operating for the next year. Your donation will pay for food, medical expenses, toys and other expenses we incur in the upkeep of the birds that we rescue. Recently, we received an African Grey that has plucked nearly all of her feathers out.

Memorial Saturday in Silver City for legendary broadcaster, hellraiser and satirist Travus T. Hipp
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 05/24/2012 - 2:26pmServices for legendary radio commentator Travus T. Hipp will be held this Saturday, May 26, in Silver City. Hipp died early Friday morning, May 18, at his Silver City home. He was 75, as old as the Golden Gate Bridge in his beloved San Francisco.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 26, in Silver City. Gathering, gnoshing and remembering will begin at the Silver City Community Center, 385 High Street, at 10:00 a.m. Food and refreshments will be provided. Those who wish may bring more.

2012 Tour of Carson Report

The Tour of Carson began in 2008 as a way for the shop to say thank you to its customers and the community for their support. The event begins with a 27-30 mile ride around the perimeter of Carson City, and then finishes back at the Bike Habitat for a BBQ.

This Commission oversees all matters pertaining to Carson City=s planning and zoning, land use and growth management. Meetings are the last Wednesday of every month at 5:00 p.m. at the Community Center, Sierra Room.
Applicants must be willing to serve approximately 12 to 16 hours a month. All members will serve without compensation. Applicants must be Carson City residents and registered voters to qualify.

The name has been in the media a lot lately; from the many attempts to rescind their funding at a federal level to the recent fiasco with the Susan G. Komen Foundation, nearly everyone has the name at the tip of their tongue these days. With that in mind, it's not too surprising that 100 to 150 people crowded into the new Carson City Planned Parenthood clinic to check out the new digs at their open house Monday night.
