Slower snowmelt affects agriculture, drinking water availability in western mountains

New partnership uses technology to improve Lake Tahoe area government

This new partnership brings community members together through Code for America, a non-profit organization on a mission to make government services simple, effective, and easy to use. Code for America has launched more than 2,300 projects with 100 government partners. Local Code for America chapters are called brigades and are organized by local volunteers.
Carson High theatre arts announces 'Drammy Award' winners and Thespian inductees

Area students combine high school, college and internships to meet skilled worker demand

Ibarra participated in two years of auto technician courses and two years in auto body courses. Gershel experimented in a variety of CTE courses including culinary, web design and welding.
Western Nevada College earns $142,000 STEM grant to enhance tech programs

The grant will allow purchase of a robotic welder and associated curriculum. WNC will use college resources to upgrade its facilities to accommodate the new program.
Kramer declares candidacy for State Assembly District 40 as a Republican
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Fri, 01/22/2016 - 2:04pmAl Kramer, former Carson City Treasurer, has announced he will run for Assembly District 40, which includes Carson City and a portion of South East Washoe County.
Kramer was the elected treasurer for Carson City from 1995 through 2015. Those who know him from his service as City Treasurer will acknowledge his efforts to go the extra mile in providing service to the citizens of Carson, and the trust that evolved because of this professional service. This past year he served as the Investment Deputy for the State Treasurer.
