The Children’s Museum of Carson City hosts a special ‘Step Up For Kids’ event with free admission sponsored by the Children’s Cabinet: it’s a perfect time to learn what resources are offered. Street Vibes and the Candy Dance are always the endcap to September. Arts and crafts take over the small hamlet of Genoa this weekend; get a jump on your holiday gift list. All the other corners of Northern Nevada are a playground for the thousands of motorcycle riders and enthusiasts here to enjoy the bike rally. Battle Born Harley on Research Way offers a huge party without ever leaving the valley. Those two events are hardly all that Carson City and our neighboring counties have to offer, however. Autumn is blowing in, but don’t let that keep you indoors. Community Art Night returns to Telegraph Square with artists, live music, food trucks, and more. Learn what our local candidates think at the Carson City Arts and Cultural Coalition’s Candidate Forum in the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall. Carson City is looking for public input on the upcoming development along South Carson St., so head to Fuji Park to make your voice heard. Fun times can be found at Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar; it’s karaoke night.

Get your motor running, Street Vibrations Fall Rally roars into town today. Check out the new Battle Born Harley-Davidson: five days of demos, an open house, vendors, and much more. J's Bistro in Dayton hosts a spaghetti feed fundraiser for the Remote Area Medical program. A special lecture on the Sutro Tunnel takes place in Virginia City this evening.

Welcome to Wednesday, Carson City. The week keeps on rolling along and every day brings some new kind of fun. Kick up your heels at Carson Lanes: Country Line dance lessons tonight. Westside Pour House hosts the Geeks Who Drink Pub Quiz each week; it’s a great excuse to grab some friends and fight for bragging rights. If you didn’t get your hot rod fix at the Rockabilly Riot, head to the Max Casino for Silver Dollar Cruise Night.

The Rockabilly Riot roars into town today and it’s bring cool cars, a tattoo expo, music, contests, pin-up girls, and so much more. Check it out at Mills Park and make sure to catch the talented officers competing in this year’s Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge while you’re there. The kids in town are getting a new Teen Center at the Boys and Girls Club: the ribbon cutting is at 10 a.m. You’ll find author Mike White at the Nevada State Museum this evening. His presentation on the best backpacking trips in Nevada and California is part of the Francis Humphrey Lecture Series.

Step into the past today: the Pony Express re-ride is coming through town. It’s anticipated around 2 p.m. and you can follow their path online HERE. World War II buffs are going to love the Wings of Freedom tour at the Minden Airport; you have until Sunday afternoon to see the planes. Head to Telegraph Square downtown for the first Community Art Night sponsored by Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery and the Charlie B. Gallery.

Thursday is something to celebrate. The long-awaited Nevada State Fair kicks off in Mills Park with a ribbon cutting by Governor Sandoval. Grab the kids, your friends, and family and enjoy carnival rides, county exhibits, civil war reenactments and much more. Our neighbors to the south are celebrating, too: the 106th Annual Carson Valley Days is this weekend. If you’re looking for something quieter, the lecture on the Civil War at the Gold Hill Hotel or an author’s talk on the Ghost Railroads of Central Nevada at the Nevada State Railroad Museum might be a better bet.

June is Bike Month in Carson City, and the weather is being more than cooperative. Bike to work week begins Monday, so get back in the swing of things with the Muscle Powered Bike Ride this afternoon. If motorcycles are more your style, Bike Night at Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar is the place to be. Don’t forget to stick around for karaoke.

You’ll find dinner music at Glen Eagles, Sassafras, and Living the Good Life.

Throw a little sunshine my way and I start thinking about Lake Tahoe. Pints and Paddles, the happy hour cruise aboard the M.S. Dixie, has returned to Zephyr Cove. Break up the workday with a stroll along the Wellness Trail: the Wednesday walkers begin at noon if you’d like company. Living the Good Life features great food, fun bartenders, and tonight a Jazz Jam lead by Rocky and Judith. Sassafras lives up to its Eclectic Food Joint reputation again: The Moody Motion Tour featuring Cryptic Wisdom, Whiteout, and Jack The Ripper hits the stage tonight.

The annual Cowboy Festival in Genoa begins this afternoon and includes music, demonstrations, art exhibits, and more.
