Local dentistry, Champagne Family Dental, takes a step to improve children’s oral health in the Truckee Meadows by hosting Story Time at Barnes & Noble Booksellers to educate children on oral health through stories and playful activities Saturday Feb. 21 at 1 p.m.

Let’s call this Roller Derby Wednesday. Carson’s own Victory Rollers are looking for fresh meat and are holding a six week class (off roller skates) to show everyone the ropes. They hope to see you tonight at Bordewich Elementary School. Just down the street, the Brewery Arts Center has an Improv workshop starting at 6:30 p.m. If you’ve wanted to attend the First Friday Improv, but have been a little shy, this is a great chance to learn about what goes on and how to jump in the fray. Be warned, you will probably have some fun.

A talk about the freeway art in Carson City by Mary Fischer, author of Carson City History in Motion is tonight, as well; sponsored by the Douglas County Historical Society, it will be held at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center in Gardnerville. Carson City Library hosts holiday craft and story time in the Digitorium

Carson City Library’s Youth Department will host a very special holiday-themed craft and storytime on Monday, December 22, in the library’s Digitorium. Storytime will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by a wreath-making craft.

Nevada’s state engineers to cut ribbon at Carson City Library

From the Carson City Library on April 14 at 6 p.m. a group of six engineers are slated to cut the grand opening ribbon on a traveling exhibit supported by the National Science Foundation, titled Discover Tech: Engineers Make a World of Difference.

Nevada State Engineer Mr. Jason King, P.E. as well as five previous Nevada State Engineers who served in the top post starting from 1967 through 2010 will join King to celebrate arrival of the engineering-focused interactive exhibit.

Museums share Nevada’s great stories as yearlong 150th birthday celebration kicks off

From the relics of Nevada’s first hilltop exploration in the 1800s to steam locomotives and 21st century archeological discoveries, Nevada State Museums cover the state’s stories and care for historical objects for generations. To honor Nevada Day and the state’s 150th birthday kickoff, Nevada state museums offer free admission and celebrations across the state Friday, Oct. 25.

Parking Lots and Story Times in Carson City

A unique arrangement between Carson City Library and Smith’s Food and Drug Center has opened a pathway between the library and local supermarket — literally. For many years staff and volunteers parked directly behind the back of the library. Alternative parking was considered when parking in the back lot was no longer an option.

Fashion Show Presented by Pookie's Playhouse and the Carson City Library

Pookie's Playhouse a locally owned children's boutique for ages 0-5 will be having a Fashion Show with the Carson City library on Wednesday Oct. 3rd. This event will feature local children modeling clothing from Pookie's Playhouse during story time at the library. It will start at 10:15 am and end at 10:45 am. Pookies Playhouse is located at 113 Rice St. in Carson City Nevada and opened it's doors in June. Flyers for this event are posted at the Carson City Library and Pookie's Playhouse.
