Carson City middle school student a semi-finalist in National Geographic GeoBee

The results are in. The National Geographic Society named Mori Kurland, an eighth grader at Carson Middle School in Carson City, as one of the semifinalists eligible to compete in the 2020 National Geographic GeoBee State competition on Friday, March 27, 2020.

Carson City School Board to discuss program updates at upcoming meeting

Carson High’s Girls Cross Country Team earn Academic State Champion honors

CARSON CITY — The Carson High School Girls Cross Country Team was honored as the 2019 NIAA Academic State Champions at the close of the season, averaging the best GPA of all 4A schools in the state at a 3.96.

Carson City School Board to discuss potential solution to middle school overcrowding

The Carson City School District will be holding its upcoming meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 26 beginning at 7 p.m. in the Sierra Room of the Community Center located at 851 E. William Street.

A discussion and possible action will be on the table for proposed capital projects as supported by the facilities master plan committee, including construction of classrooms at Eagle Valley Middle School intended to alleviate student overcrowding at Carson Middle School, in an estimated amount not to exceed $8.2 million, which will be financed by the sale of the 2019B school bonds.

The Sierra Lutheran High School Cross Country Girls Team made up of all Freshman and Sophomores finished fourth in the 2A State Championship Meet Saturday at Rancho San Rafael Park in Reno.

Falcons Academic Olympics Closes Out Strong Fall Sports Season for SLHS

As Sierra Lutheran’s winter sports season begins, they are looking back and celebrating the last Fall NIAA sport to finish its season - Academic Olympics. 



Over Thanksgiving break, AO teams from around the region travelled to Eureka for the State Championship. Sierra Lutheran’s team members are the Regional Champions, winning the Western Division by a margin of 10 points. Quite a feat, considering how strong the Western Division is - Whittell, the team ranked 3rd regionally, was the State Champion.

Senator Square: Speech and debate, future business leader teams prepare for nationals

There is no school on Monday, May 11 for Carson High School freshmen, sophomores and juniors as the seniors will be presenting their senior project boards to community members.

CHS Speech and Debate will be holding several fundraisers to help cover the cost of the National Tournament this June in Dallas.
