She’s a grand ole flag, and there will be two ceremonies to recognize the stars and stripes in Carson City today. At 10 a.m. you can join the Nevada National Guard at the Veterans Memorial on the Capitol Grounds for presentation of the colors, speakers, and even cake for the US Army’s anniversary. You’ll find the Elks Club honoring our flag at 3 p.m. The public are invited to both events. The Army isn’t the only birthday you’ll find today; Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery celebrates its seventh year with an artist reception and new work from Denise Jenkins.

June 16, 2018 - 10:00am Speaker Jim Clark will present Part II of his program, “More Trains in the Westerns” in a free presentation at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park on Saturday, June 16, at 10 a.m.
Jim Clark, known to many as “The Train Man”, returns for a third year to cover more of the 250 films he has worked on. Clark is an engineer and train coordinator who is associated with several of the biggest films with trains and their Hollywood stars. Some of those films include "The Lone Ranger", "Wild, Wild, West", "Into the West" and “Water for Elephants”.

It’s going to be a chili weekend, and that has nothing to do with the weather. The annual Chili on the Comstock Competition takes over the tiny town of Virginia City, including a saloon crawl Saturday and the hilarious ‘Fun with the Runs’ 5K. Greenhouse Project celebrating 10 years of fresh bounties in Carson City

About a decade ago, a group of community members organized a sustainable horticulture program targeting food insecurity in Carson City. They called it the Greenhouse Project, a not-for-profit effort to improve the quality of food available to the area’s most hungry.

RENO — “The Ox-bow Incident,” a 1943 motion picture adapted from an iconic novel by the same name by one of Nevada’s most famous authors, will be shown at April’s High Noon Shootout with Neal Cobb at the Nevada Historical Society.
The film will be shown on April 19 at noon at the Historical Society, 1650 N. Virginia St., in Reno. Admission is $5, free for members and children 17 and younger.

April 3, 2018 - 5:30pm Carson City Classic Cinema Club will meet again April 3 for a viewing of "Lawrence of Arabia." Peter O'Toole stars as T.E. Lawrence, a British officer who is sent to Arabia in 1917.
General Admission $5; Senior/Student $3; Free to members. This is a true Epic film, which will start at 5:30pm. Trivia will be played during intermission.
It will be featured at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall 511 West King Street, Carson City. For additional refreshments, Expresso Yourself will stay open through intermission.
