Fishing Report: Anglers are reeling them in during the warming weather

Hello fellow anglers. The official start of summer is only two weeks away and the weather has started to cooperate. Many of the passes are opening and the higher lakes are thawing out. Winter seems to get longer and longer each year. So enjoy the next two weeks of spring, because I have a feeling its going to be a hot year. Fishing has started to pick up all over the area, and with the school year ending for most kids, we are now in full camping mode. There are still some areas that are closed, due to the excessive winter we just had. I will try to keep you updated as the season progresses.

Memorial Weekend Fishing Report: catch a tagged fish to win a prize, and bring a jacket

Hello fellow anglers, this will be a Memorial weekend to remember. Pack the jackets and leave the tank tops at home. Make sure you bring plenty of tarps to keep your firewood dry, and don't forget the umbrella and canopies, this year it won't be to keep the sun from beating down on us.

The 2018 Installation Dinner for the Carson City Republican Women's Club will be held Tuesday, Dec. 18 at the Casino Fandango Grand Ballroom. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. with a sit down dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for this event are $40 each which include appetizers, salad, entree of salmon and a beef filet, vegetables, dessert and choice of beverages. There will be a cash bar available.

Hello fellow anglers, this time of year is great to get out and enjoy fishing a river with the fall colors in bloom. The trees and aspen "quakies" in Alpine County have now peaked. Another place to enjoy the fall colors would be at Taylor Creek on Emerald Bay Road near South Lake Tahoe.

River Wranglers (RW), a youth-oriented watershed education organization based in Carson City, has just wrapped up its fall season.

With the exception of the East Carson River that flows form Hangman's Bridge to the Nevada state line, this section is open all year with special regulations.
