Friends of Brooks Foundation Golf Tournament at Empire Golf Course, Carson City

This second annual Friends of Brooks Golf Tournament will be held Oct. 5 at Empire Ranch Golf Course in Carson City to honor Brooks Brolsma; his parents Allison and Owen Brolsma started the ‘Friends of Brooks Foundation’ in recognition of the need local families have when a loved one requires extensive medical treatment outside our immediate area. They appreciate the love and support shown them by friends, family, and local businesses, and have been raising money for Northern Nevadan families since.

Weather conference at Lake Tahoe to feature Nobel Prize team winner

Chris Field, a 2007 Nobel Prize team winner and lead author of the study on the effects of global climate change will be the keynote speaker at Lake Tahoe South's Operation Sierra Storm Meteorologist Conference, Jan 10.

Field, was the Co-Chair for Working Group II of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) which shared the 2007 Peace Prize with former Vice President Al Gore. He’s the director of the Department of Global Ecology, Carnegie Institution for Science at Stanford University and a 2009 Heinz Award recipient, recognizing extraordinary environmental achievement.

Gov. Sandoval featured at joint Carson City Chamber, NNDA breakfast

The Northern Nevada Development Authority and the Carson City Chamber Commerce will host a joint breakfast with Gov. Brian Sandoval at the Carson Nugget on April 27 from 7 to 9 a.m.
Join NNDA, the Chamber and Gov. Sandoval for breakfast where he will address economic challenges as well as legislative issues facing the state.

The Carson City Elks Lodge will host the April 5 Chamber of Commerce Breakfast Club beginning at 7:15 a.m. The cost is $5 for members, $15 for non-members. RSVP required. Call (775) 882-1565. The Elks Lodge is located at 515 North Nevada Street.
