The first Saturday is always fun here, the Downtown Business Association hosts their monthly wine walk, rain, snow, or shine; and don't miss the raffle with some great prizes. The Elks Lodge is holding a hoop shoot contest for ages 8-13 (as of April 1, 2015), with the winners headed to the District Hoop Shoot in Reno. This is also the last weekend to enjoy a sleigh ride at Sand Harbor; bundle up and enjoy a gorgeous view.

It has been a chilly few days and I'm ready for my teeth to stop chattering. This first Friday of the year has plenty of options for fun. Join Mikey and Heidi at the Brewery Arts Center for Improv Night, enjoy some red-dirt country music at Caterpillar's Hookah Lounge (and make sure to wish proprietress, Dana, a happy birthday), or travel just outside our boundaries to see local favorites Notch 8 at the Genoa Bar.

The panorama was taken on a quiet Thanksgiving night. This ice rink is polished and professional, and is set up on Carson Street, near Cactus Jack's, and across Carson Street from the famed Carson Nugget.
This ice rink is first class, and has skating rates as low as $5 on Family Night. This is a great place to spend a cool winter's night, or a sunshine filled day, in our town.

Ice Skating Rink returns to Carson City's Arlington Square

Carson St. Opening day will be Friday, Nov. 28, the day after Thanksgiving, with three session times to choose from: 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., 2 p.m. - 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Skate rental is $3 and a skate session is $7 for those over 13 years old and $5 for youth 3-12 years old.
Afterschool Skate Special for Elementary and Middle School Students:
Monday - Thursday 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.: $5 skating includes skates and one hot beverage of choice.
Christmas season kicks off Dec. 5 with Carson City hometown celebration

Now in its 25th year, the annual event is sponsored by the Carson City Redevelopment Authority as part of their efforts to showcase the downtown core and to bring families together to enjoy the advent of the holiday season.
Silver and Snowflake art contest winners announced

Each year, the teen board of the Carson City Library chooses a theme to coincide with the Christmas holidays. This year’s theme was “A Novel Christmas,” asking children to draw what Christmas would look like in their favorite novels.

The Carson City Downtown Business Association says that even though it's chilly outside, you can keep warm by bundling up, putting on a pair of skates or walking along the streets of downtown, where you can shop for holiday gifts (there's several gift shops and shopping opportunities throughout downtown) and sip some fine wine at any number of stops.

The event brings thousands to downtown Carson City marking the city's official kick off of the Christmas and holiday season. Festivities begin at the capitol grounds, 5:30 p.m. where more than 300 voices of the Carson City 5th Grade Music Students Singing Ensemble will provide musical entertainment.

First ever Empty Bowls event to end hunger set for Dec. 6 during Festival of Lights

Empty Bowls is a grass roots movement to end hunger. Local artists young and old donate handmade bowls. Restaurants donate soup and food. For a minimum $10 donation you choose a bowl and fill it with food.
