There is an interesting discussion going on over at the Nevada Appeal site concerning the Nugget Project.

The story begins two week ago when Guy Farmer wrote a rather harsh column that slammed the Nugget Project. In response, last week there was a guest column by Michael Douglass criticizing Farmer's take on the subject.

AUSTIN, Nev. — It’s not often you’ll find a classic historic mining town full of options for the more active traveler. Bucking most Republicans and GOP Senate hopeful Sharron Angle, U.S. Rep. Dean Heller, R-Carson City, voted in favor of the House bill to extend unemployment benefits, despite his history of voting against most Democratic-backed economic measures, reports the Las Vegas Sun.

The Chorus of the Comstock lead by director, Jim Crowley, presents songs of tribute for the celebration of 100 years, to the day, that the McKeen motor car arrived in Carson City for the V&T Railway, and, the culmination of a 12 year and nearly one million dollar restoration effort for this unique antique railway transport car. The program included the patriotic theme selections, “This is My Country”, “America the Beautiful”,”Armed Forces Medley” and “ God Bless America”. Barbershop quartets, "Miners" and "Assisted Living" entertained at Wabuska depot and the State Museum building.

The Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City will celebrate the delivery of the historic McKeen Motor Car V&T No. 22 on May 9, marking the completion of its decade-long restoration and the 100th year anniversary of its arrival in Carson City.
The event will take place  Sunday, May 9, with the ceremony/program to begin at Noon, at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, 2180 South Carson Street, Carson City. After a public ceremony and inaugural trip, rides will be available to the public. McKeen Car Rides: will be at 1:30, 2, 2:30, 3, 3:30 and 4 p.m.
