It is that time of year, Reno Air Race time. Each year dozens of aircraft come in from everywhere to park in Carson City and attend the air races in Reno. The front of the airport rarely has many aircraft but for this event the area becomes full. Mountain West typically has aircraft parked nearby but at air race time this parking is also full.

The date is the anniversary of Orville Wright’s birthday. Since 1903 when Orville and Wilbur Wright first achieved piloted, controlled, sustained, heavier-than-air flight the world has changes significantly. We are all touched by aviation in one way or another. Everything from people to packages are transported via airplanes.

Talented Carson City area musicians perform March 22 to benefit Carson High bands

5th Annual CHS Safe and Sober 5k Run/Walk a Success

The 5th annual CHS Safe and Sober 5k Run/Walk was a tremendous success with turn-out of 113 participants. The weather cleared up this morning and with just a bit of wind at race time, we couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather, maybe even a sunburn.

Pilot dies in crash at Reno Air Races

One pilot is dead after his sport aircraft crashed during Monday's qualifying heat of the Reno National Championship Air Races at the Reno-Stead Airport.

Reno Fire Dept. Chief Michael Hernandez says the plane suffered “significant structural failure to the aircraft" during the 3:30pm accident.

The second day of the seventh-annual Holiday With a Hero shopping spree event kicked off at 9 a.m., with the volunteers being fed donuts and coffee. Nine persons are confirmed to have died yesterday when a modified P-51 Mustang crashed into the crowd at the Reno Air Races.
