Tahoe Douglas Fire evacuates reggae festival at Stateline due to lightning

The 6,000 people attending the outdoor reggae festival Saturday night at the Hard Rock Lake Tahoe in Stateline were evacuated briefly because of lightning in the area.

Several strikes of lightning in the South Lake Tahoe area Saturday evening prompted the necessity to get the people out according to Tahoe Douglas Fire Marshal Eric Guevin. He said he was opening the venue back up as soon as the area was safe from strikes. As of 6:45 p.m. Saturday, the lightning was in the ridge area around Glenbrook.
