The following are results from Carson High School Senators Ski Team from races held on Wednesday. On Jan. 29 the Senators return to competition with a Slalom race at Heavenly.

The Carson Mall wants to thank all the participants who came out for its second Got Hot Wheels Race Car Race Day on Saturday. The next Hot Wheels race will be Sept. 14.

Racers brought their favorite Hot Wheels, Matchbox or similar-sized car and competed against peer racers for bragging rights and prizes. The race was on a 15-foot downhill race track and was single elimination.

A military career showed Daniel Lear that he wanted to spend his life helping others. Adult life has taken Lear on a few twists and turns, but it hasn’t changed his primary goal to assist people. That desire is closer to becoming a reality as a second-year nursing student at Western Nevada College in Carson City.

Carson Online, the Carson City School District’s online education program, was piloted at Pioneer High School in 2009. It has become a very successful online credit option for students in CCSD that has helped change culture, provide technological support, and has helped raise the graduation rate in our district. During the last school year, online options assisted over 970 students.

The Capital City Arts Initiative [CCAI] announces its exhibition, "For Detail View" by artist Jeff Hantman at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery from February 5 – May 25. During Interbike in Las Vegas on Wednesday, Epic Rides announced Carson City Off-Road — the third event in the Epic Rides Off-Road Series.

A Dayton man involved in a motorcycle crash Saturday on State Route 341, Geiger Grade, near Virginia City has died, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. Kevin Mcintire, 62, of Dayton died Thursday after being treated for injuries sustained in the crash.

Saturday August 16, the Vegas to Reno Race got underway. With 300 entries, 125 Bikes, 175 Cars and trucks, 9 countries, 25 states and 535 miles of the roughest, siltest, twisted, Nevada Desert to run on.

The BEST IN THE DESERT, Vegas to Reno Race is the longest and richest Desert Race in the United States. Veteran Race Organizer, Casey Folks, said "This was a great race, fantastic weather, so happy to have these amazing Sponsors and world class Racers out having a good time, there is nothing like it."

This Sunday May 18, all BMX bikers are invited to participate in Race for Life, hosted by Carson City BMX at Edmonds Sports Complex. Signups are from 9 to 10 a.m. The cost is $10.

What is the Race For Life? It all started in 1981 when an avid 12 year old BMX racer from Michigan discovered he had Leukemia. Todd Kingsbury was his name, and like many BMXers, he had dreams of someday becoming a top pro in the sport. Unfortunately, this dreaded disease would keep Todd from fulfilling his dream.

Registration has begun for the 2014 Kids Adventure Games, the premier race for children ages six to 14 that features teams of two competing in mountain biking, hiking, zip lines, a Tarzan rope swing, giant Slope-n-Slide, cargo nets, mud pits and more.

The race is scheduled for August 2, 2014 at Mammoth Mountain as part of a new, exciting eight-race series, the Kids Adventure Games, taking place at various locations across the nation. Event details are as follows:

An Incline Village couple said they received death threats after reporting problems with a black bear that was captured and then euthanized Thursday by Nevada wildlife officials.

"People have been giving me death threats," Adrienne Evans said. Evans is a teacher at Carson High School and a well-known mountain bike racer in the Lake Tahoe area.
