CARSON CITY — Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital is hosting a family fun day on Sunday, July 21 to celebrate American Animal Hospital Association Accredited Hospital Day.

AAHA-Accredited Hospital Day is a day to celebrate champions for excellent care. The event takes place 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital, 780 College Parkway in Carson City.

Carson City based RICE Hydro, Inc. continues its long tradition of supporting STEM education throughout North America. Recently, the company donated one of their MTP-15 Manual Hand Operated Hydrostatic test pumps to Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.

Since last week, when the State Fire Marshal announced preliminary findings regarding the cause of the explosion that damaged Argenta and Nye Halls on July 5, the University has made significant progress in several areas regarding the students affected, making arrangements for the upcoming Fall 2019 semester and planning for the longer-term. Carson City Triad hosts Be Red Cross Ready presented by the Northern Nevada American Red Cross Tuesday, July 16, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive. The event is free and open to the public.

Tomorrow, Thursday July 11, the first of the summer artist series — free to the public — will feature artists Claire Scully and Russ Connell from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Each artist will be presenting for 45 minutes. The series will be held in the Brick (the Community Development Building) at 108 Proctor Street in Carson City

This weekend, I was blessed to attend Gaia Gathering — an impactful gathering of healers from all walks of life. I was surrounded by many modalities of healing from a variety of cultures: artists, medicine men and women, yogis, energy healers, and spiritualists. As someone who heals companies and leaders through communication, I felt right at home. The messages rang through loud and clear and you will see many of my a-ha moments translated into my column here.

Heading into Monday, July 8, 2019 we want to give a big shout out to all the local organizations and agencies that made this Fourth of July weekend around the Carson City region one to remember. For Monday we're looking at a number of events including a basketball camp at the MAC, a children's theater camp, a local talk with the Carson City Airport manager, art activities, line dancing and more.

July 11, 8 AM – Eagle Ridge trail, Genoa. Meet at the trailhead for the Clear Creek trail, 1/2 mile west of Jacks Valley Elementary School on Jacks Valley Road to carpool or caravan to trailhead.

Tuesday Evening Hike

July 9, 5:30 PM – Secret Harbor, Lake Tahoe, Meet at the Hwy 50 Park n Ride where we will carpool up to the trailhead.

Ken Moen, Carson City Airport Manager, will be the featured speaker at the Monday's Democratic luncheon. He came to the job well prepared in 2018 after careers in air traffic control, publishing, and airport management with the Reno Tahoe Airport Authority. He will touch on the ways in which recently-passed AB406 will strengthen management at the Carson Airport Authority. He will also give a preview of the airport's open house coming up on Saturday, June 29th.

Heading into the Independence Day holiday weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region to keep the next three days jam-packed with excitement.

As we go forward and move ahead into Tuesday, July 2, 2019 we're looking at another sunny day, all the better as we prepare to celebrate Independence Day. Are you ready for July 4 fireworks at Mills Park? As a Tuesday warmup, get the heart pumping during Muscle Powered's three fitness outings. Plus there's art showings, hands-on science activities in Silver City, an evening archery shoot, a viewing of the 1953 film "From Here to Eternity" at the Brewery Arts Center hosted by the Carson City Classic Cinema Club and more. CARSON CITY, Nev. – Roper’s Heating and Air Conditioning is helping Carson City seniors beat the heat this year with a donation of 20 brand new box fans through the KOLO 8 TV Fan Drive.

The Nevada Department of Transportation, Tahoe Transportation District and partners opened the new Tahoe East Shore Trail in Incline Village on Friday, June 28 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
