Nevada governor urges Senate to pass CHIP re-authorization, support for DACA

CARSON CITY — Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval issued the following statement Friday urging the U.S. Senate to pass the CHIP re-authorization measure that was approved by the House of Representatives last night. The governor also expressed his continued support for the DACA program.

Then and only then, can conservatism present and extend to the electorate our concepts in such a way that we will be accepted by the majority of our fellow citizens.
Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Rates Drop By 37.5 Percent In Nevada
Submitted by Nevada News Bureau on Thu, 06/02/2011 - 1:04pmCARSON CITY – Insurance Commissioner Brett Barratt said today that rates for the high risk pool in the federal Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan (PCIP) for Nevada have been reduced by 37.5 percent by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services starting July 1.
“This is great news for the thousands of uninsured Nevadans eligible for the PCIP,” Barratt said. “These rate decreases make PCIP more affordable and comparable to the commercial market for individuals.”

The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a repeal of Health Reform. Additionally, they passed budget cuts of $1.3 billion to existing funding for Community Health Centers (CHC’s).
Over the last 45 years, CHC’s have grown to provide primary care access to 20 million Americans. Study after study has shown that primary care in a CHC is less expensive and provides more reliable health outcomes than any other alternative for those with access challenges. Who is speaking for the needs of these patients?
