The ground is moist again, so more good news. I got the tools, hoses, sprinklers and patio furniture put away before the storms. We turned off and drained the main sprinklers in time. So far so good.

Seasonal closures apply to many National Forest recreation sites in the Tahoe Basin including beaches, campgrounds, picnic areas and forest roads.

Homicide suspect in custody following Tahoe capture, confesses location of father's body
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Sat, 01/04/2020 - 3:58pmA four-hour interview of homicide suspect Sean Purdy in Reno Friday night has led to the discovery of the body of his father, 52-year-old Lance Purdy of Pine Grove, Calif.
At 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2020, detectives from the Amador County Sheriff’s Office met with the 20-year-old suspect at the Washoe County Jail in Reno, Nev. After approximately four hours of interviewing Sean, detectives said they were able to obtain a confession from Sean and the location of his father’s body.

I started with this “The raging fires in California are a terrible reminder of the wildfire risk of living in the urban-wildland interface.” Now, 16 years later, that initial sentence bears repeating. With climate change, global warming we are seeing hotter, more intense, faster spreading wildfires than ever before. Fuels such as brush, grasses and trees are tinder dry everywhere, including Northern Nevada.

During his lifetime he had a successful career as a jazz trumpet player, water ski school owner and instructor, and Science of Mind minister. He had a love of water skiing which developed upon his move to Lake Tahoe in 1960 to play trumpet in the house bands at the casinos.
