Carson City schools will operate today at normal start times. That all may change tomorrow though as a significant winter storm is expected to bring snow and rain to the valley and feet of snow to Lake Tahoe and the Sierra. Stay tuned.

The Capital City Arts Initiative presents its exhibition "Korea ’76" with work by artists Eugene Rolfe and Gig Depio in the Community Center’s Sierra Room, 851 E William Street, Carson City.

The exhibition is available to the public now through Feb. 28, 2019. Note: the Sierra Room is closed for renovation from Jan. 18 to Feb. 6.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance with an attempted theft at Walmart, located in the Topsy Lane Shopping Center at 3770 U.S. Highway 395 South in Carson City.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two male suspects who are being sought in connection with two instances of theft.

The crimes are do not appear to be connected.

For most, waking up this morning to rain was a big relief given the fire situation over the past few months. Today is Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018. The Carson City School District was a point of highlight at the Nevada Association of School Boards (NASB) Annual Conference this past Saturday, Nov. 17, in Las Vegas.

In honor of the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, the Nevada State Museum in Carson City will be hosting a special event: “Armistice: Commemorating the End of the Great War" on Saturday, Nov. 10.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division is asking for assistance in locating a 16-year-old female runaway.

Mono County Sheriff's Office investigators continue to search for a missing 16-year-old girl with family ties in Yerington who was last seen early Saturday, Oct. 13 near her home in the Bishop, Calif area.

The Nevada Artists Association invites all artists to enter its 66th annual Nevada Day Art Show. This is a judged Carson City show and there isn't a set theme, although the show committee will select a painting for the coveted "Spirit of Nevada" award.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division in conjunction with detectives from the Reno Police Department, Sparks Police Department and the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office are seeking the public’s assistance identifying vehicle burglary and check fraud suspects.

In the upcoming midterm election Nevada voters will be faced a question of tax exemption. If adopted, Question 2 would create a state and local sales tax exemption for feminine hygiene products.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division is asking for the public's help identifying possible suspects involved in several vehicle burglaries that happened in Carson City and Douglas County.

A 31-year-old man was arrested Monday for a vehicle burglary that happened earlier this month at a Research Way fitness center, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

The book award in Creative Nonfiction for the WILLA Literary Award goes to Mary Lee Fulkerson and her book, Women Artists of the Great Basin. The book is replete with 120 stunning color photographs of the artists and their works by master photographer Susan E. Mantle.
