Suffrage train rides, pet food drive, live music and more highlight weekend events around Carson City area

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. The Nevada State Railroad Museum is holding train rides dedicated toward women’s suffrage on Saturday. Feeding Pets of the Homeless is hosting its 11th annual nationwide pet food and supply drive over the next three days, and there is plenty of live music for all to enjoy! The devil may have gone down to Georgia, but the Charlie Daniels Band is coming to Carson Valley Inn next summer. And so is Tanya Tucker.

Good morning Carson City and happy Saturday! It’s going to get hot again today with a high of 93, but don’t worry, as we get out further into the week the weather will turn more autumnal with highs in the 70s. It could be the last hot day for a while, at least until a freak 90s+ hot day in November followed by a week long blizzard, so enjoy it while it’s here!

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region packed with excitement over the next three days. Events include the Silver State Art Festival at Fuji Park, suicide awareness walks in Carson City, a Celtic faire at Dangberg Home Ranch, the ninth annual Edible Pedal bike ride at Bowers Mansion, train rides in Virginia City and much more!

Review: Dave Matthews Band pumps it up for Tahoe show

The Dave Matthews Band has made Harvey’s outdoor venue a regular stop since 2013, appearing on the shores of Lake Tahoe four of its last six tours. Typically, Tahoe fits the routing from the annual three-show Labor Day run at The Gorge, on the way to shows in California. Often that means the band is a bit weary and the sets feel transitional and somewhat soft.

Milton Merlos will bring flamenco guitar music to Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park at 6:30 pm, Thursday, July 12.

Milton Merlos, who plays in the Spanish Flamenco style, is a native of Boston. Merlos started playing the guitar at age twelve, and began playing professionally at sixteen. Travels to Spain instilled a love for the Spanish Flamenco style of playing. Now a professional musician with eighteen years of experience, he lives part-time in western Nevada.

A perfect summer night awaited fans for Clint Black on Friday night at Carson Valley Inn’s outdoor venue, where Mother Nature was smiling, too: Not too hot and not too cold. A sold-out crowd packed TJ’s Corral. People came out dressed up in comfortable duds, with no shortage of cowboy boots and hats

Black is an old-school country music singer-songwriter. He plays multiple instruments and his career has been stirring fans since the late 1980s. He loves to produce, as well, and he was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 1991.

Buffalo Bill's Wild West at Dangberg Historic Park

Buffalo Bill’s Wild West returns to Dangberg Historic Park on Saturday, August 26 at 11:00 am as the park’s final major event of the 2017 Dangberg Summer Festival.

The show features Buffalo Bill Cody, Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane, Annie Oakley, the Pony Express, The Mayfield Gang and the 1st Nevada Cavalry. The Douglas High School Marching Band and western singer-songwriter Krista Jenkins return for a second year to draw the audience back in time to the frontier of the American West.
