On Wednesday, Nevada Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske announced early turnout numbers for the June 9 primary election that is being conducted primarily by mail-in ballot. As of Tuesday, 276,456 of the 1,829,050 ballots mailed to Nevada voters have been cast. An additional 636 voters have cast a ballot in person during the early voting period.

I have been a grass warrior lately. CARSON CITY, NV – The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) has announced their unemployment insurance (UInv) website (http://ui.nv.gov) will be down TODAY, Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 1 p.m. until 7 p.m., the period of lowest traffic, in order to improve system performance and access expansion for filers.

Gov. Steve Sisolak said it’s not yet clear what the week-old effort to reopen some Nevada businesses has done to infection metrics or when the state will move to Phase 2, but he said health indicators are pointing in the right direction.

RENO - Based on processed applications as of May 13, 2020, Nevada State Bank has announced approval for 4,255 U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans totaling $592,005,500.

More than 68% of the loans were made to businesses with fewer than 10 employees and approximately 82% of the loans approved were for amounts less than $150,000 (57% for amounts less than $50,000). The funding will help preserve payrolls for 65,607 Nevada jobs, based on applicant data.

Virginia City and parades are synonymous with each other. But how do you throw a parade during the age of social distancing and with many COVID-19 restrictions still in place? Easy. What is traditionally one of the largest parades for the historic town, the Memorial Day Parade, will turn into a cruise honoring our country’s fallen heroes.
