Downtown corridor still on schedule for completion by Nevada Day

Construction of Carson Street along the downtown corridor is now a little over half way through the project's eight-month timeline and the work remains on pace to be mostly finished by Nevada Day weekend, Carson City Public Works Engineering Manager Daniel Rotter said.

Construction of the downtown corridor of North Carson Street is now in full swing since the March 7 groundbreaking, and already changes have begun taking shape.

Nevada's Big Give annual event Thursday

The fifth annual Nevada's Big Give charity drive will be held statewide on Thursday, March 10.

The Big Give is an online donation drive designed to raise as much money as possible in a 24-hour period for various statewide and local charities.

Seeliger School Pumpkin Patch Festival celebrated

Fun. Games. Pumpkins. It is Fall and the annual Pumpkin Patch was a great chance to get pumpkins for Halloween Jack O' Lanterns. Pumpkins large and small were sold early in the day as children bought tickets to play the various games of Witches Hat Toss, Brew and the ever popular dunk tank brought around from the Northern Nevada Children's Museum.

The weather couldn't have been better for this annual event.

Art of the Brick exhibit at Northern Nevada Children's Museum

The Art of Brick exhibition is now on display at the Northern Nevada Children's Museum. The artwork by Nathan Sawaya is built entirely out of LEGOs, and have been attracting record crowds since they started a nationwide tour in 2007. Sawaya is known as the Picasso of LEGO bricks, and his sculptures can fetch hundreds of thousands of dollars. Even Don Trump has commissioned one of the pieces.

Travel writers get tour of Carson City's attractions

The weather wasn't ideal on Memorial Day weekend, but it didn't dampen the spirits of 10 media professionals invited here by the Carson City Visitor and Convention Bureau to see what the area has to offer.

"I know they were all impressed with all that we have to offer our visitors," said Candace Duncan, CCVCB executive director.
