Carson City Jazz & Beyond Festival live-stream series continues Tuesday with Josh D. Reed Quartet

Event Date:
September 1, 2020 - 7:00pm

The 2020 Jazz & Beyond Festival continues its series of live-streamed and virtual events through Sept. 27, 2020, with the next event on Tuesday Sept. 1, featuring the Josh D. Reed Quartet.

Socialists Gone Wild in California (Opinion column)

This month, California Governor Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown signed probably the most restrictive water consumption law in the country. Under the new statute, starting in 2022 every California man, woman and child will be restricted to 55 gallons of water use per day. For a family of four, that’s 220 gallons per day.

The penalties for using more water than your allocation under this newest socialist Democrat program? Between $1,000 and $10,000 per day.

Communism and Millennials, Progressives and Liberals

Event Date:
December 13, 2017 - 10:30am

In the 100th anniversary of communism last month, three points stood out.
First, polls say half of America’s millennials would rather live under socialism or communism than capitalism.

Second, the reality of communism was, horrifically, exactly the opposite of the naïve view held by today’s young and by many people around the world in the last century.

Third, the essential faults and failures of communism also characterize all government to some degree, especially democratic socialism, progressivism and statist liberalism.

Good Luck Macbeth Theatre continues its 2015 season with one of its highly anticipated shows of the season, Shiner. Shiner, by promising young playwright Christian Durso, follows two 13-year-olds Jake and Margot, in 1994, who form their own grunge-music fan club to celebrate all things Nirvana. Soon Jake and Margot become bound as much by their shared insecurities as by their music. The two teens make a pact to die happy. All they need to do is see Nirvana live in concert and then they will jump off the 101 overpass.
