The CHSD Orchestra, under the direction of Brian Fox, participated in the Washoe County School District High School Orchestra Festival 2017 at UNR’s Nightingale Hall. Judges from Sacramento and the Bay Area rated this group alongside similar groups from the Reno and Sparks area.

Three-time GRAMMY award winner and legendary saxophone artist Tom Scott will perform with the 17-piece Reno Jazz Orchestra on Sunday, February 12 at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR).

The spirit of Christmas comes to life as the 17 piece Reno Jazz Orchestra and Pat Ester’s Gospel Choir brings Christmas favorites, jazz, and soul — with a few surprises mixed in — for three performances of feel good, ‘get ready for the holidays’ music and song.

Help us raise the curtain at Piper’s Opera House in Virginia City once again on April 2, from 3-5 pm, at a gala premiere party, an intimate and exclusive event, to present scenes from the new opera, The Big Bonanza.
The Territorial Enterprise newspaper writer Dan DeQuille was commissioned to tell the story of the epic 1873 discovery of the Comstock Lode by the “Bonanza King”’ John W. Mackey.

With the holiday season now in full swing, it’s only appropriate that the Reno Jazz Orchestra (RJO) brings Jazz for the Holidays to Northern Nevada for all to enjoy on December 19th and 20 at Nightingale Hall - University of Nevada. Sharing the stage with the 17 piece big band this year is Tierney Sutton, 2015 GRAMMY Nominee for “Best Jazz Vocal Album”.

Don’t miss the Reno Jazz Orchestra as it presents “Perfectly Frank” Bobby Caldwell on the edge of Lake Tahoe. It’s a night down memory lane wrapped with some of Sinatra’s most famous tunes performed by some of the finest jazz musicians in the west - presented in true Sinatra style by acclaimed soul stylist, pop and rhythm and blues singer and songwriter, Bobby Caldwell.

If Frank Sinatra were alive today to celebrate his 100th birthday this year, he would be proud to be a part of this swinging night of big band music and song.

Accompanying the 17 piece band of the RJO is award-winning jazz vocalist Madeline Eastman, international tap and ballet stars, the Reno Youth Jazz Orchestra, and other special guests who will all perform their holiday magic on Saturday night beginning at 7:30 pm.

More than 300 middle and high school musicians will perform during the 14th annual Jazz in the Schools program on Saturday, February 1, 2014 in Nightingale Concert Hall at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) campus.

Sierra Nevada Ballet has selected the famed Coppelia ballet for their summer performances which are scheduled for July 27 at Nightingale Hall as part of the Artown Festival and July 29 on the outdoor stage at Sand Harbor State Park in conjunction with the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival.
