New Year’s Celebration

While this year’s safe and sober celebrations may look different, Partnership Carson City, in collaboration with Carson City Sheriff's Office School Resource Officers, is encouraging students to celebrate safety and responsibly this New Year’s Eve by offering gift cards as a token of appreciation.

Come celebrate the new year with popular local band, The Lost Reverends of the High Sierra in the Cabaret in Casino Fandango, 3800 South Carson St., New Year’s Eve from 9:00PM until 1:00AM.

The Lost Reverends are well known for their fun and energetic shows, covering genres such as rock, blues, country and even a show tune or two. Front man and lead singer, Dougie L is also known to bust out some American Songbook classics from the likes of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett and others.

There is absolutely a little bit of everything this weekend. There’s somewhere to volunteer, somewhere to eat some fundraising pancakes, join in an Asian New Year Lion Dance Parade, Beer Crawl in downtown Carson City, and get your Zumba on. I think the eclectic mix of happenings is one of my favorite things about our corner of the world. Whether it’s the International Film Festival, the Vagina Monologues, or telescope viewing at the WNC Observatory: you can’t tell me there is nothing to do.

SATURDAY:

Make beautiful memories and ring in the New Year with an evening of fine food, libations and the jazz styling of vocalist Barbara Baxter at Café at Adele’s on Monday, Dec. 31.

The evening’s menu will feature favorite entrées from past years, as well as several seasonal dishes. And since New Year’s at Café at Adele’s is such a popular event, reservations are recommended.

With Lake Tahoe area ski lifts just days away from turning for the first time this ski and ride season, it is not too early to start planning holiday vacations, especially with the wide variety of holiday activities and great vacation packages Heavenly Mountain Resort, Northstar California and Kirkwood Mountain Resort are offering.

Lake Tahoe South is New Year’s celebration central with Snow Globe, a three-day outdoor music festival with over 40 world-class musicians on three main stages, firework shows, combined with a myriad of outdoor recreation, entertainment and nightlife, providing action-packed holiday season for kids of all ages.

There’s ample reason to bring your New Year’s Eve celebration to South Lake Tahoe this year, as the town announces its plans to host the first-ever SnowGlobe Music Festival, Dec. 29, 30 and 31, 2011. For three days the festival will sprawl out in the luxuriant setting of Lake Tahoe’s south shore, offering three main stages and over forty-five world-class musicians to help ring in what is sure to be an unbeatable New Year’s Eve celebration, according to a news release.
