Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties (HCC) is currently recruiting AmeriCorps members to serve part-time by teaching financial literacy at Boys & Girls Clubs in Yerington, Silver Springs and Dayton.

The Douglas County Sheriff is looking for volunteers to join our friendly Citizen Patrol group who provides valuable services for the people of Douglas County.

We provide VIN verifications for people bringing in vehicles from out of state; we do vacation checks for residents while they are traveling; we enforce handicap parking; and red tag and tow abandoned vehicles as needed.

DAYTON, Nev. — To celebrate and honor the memory of Don Carbery, who volunteered extensively with many projects to help others throughout Nevada and in places across the U.S., Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey is welcoming a blood drive by Vitalant.

The blood drive takes place at Healthy Communities’ offices at 209 Dayton Valley Road, Dayton, Nevada on Monday, Nov. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The nonprofit Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey counties is inviting volunteers to help beautify the Dayton Food Pantry, the nonprofit garden center Community Roots & Shoots, and Healthy Communities grounds on Sunday, May 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 209 Dayton Valley Road.

Dayton, Nevada – This week’s Dayton Food Pantry news includes recognition for three groups that recently contributed to the Pantry: Volunteers in Policing (V.I.P.s), Girl Scout Service Unit 625, and the Misfits Theater Group. Dayton Food Pantry manager Alie Trier said, “This Thanksgiving we were so grateful for the hundreds of turkeys and hams, side items, and checks donated by the community. Now we even have enough to provide more than 500 more familes with spiral hams for Christmas. Thank you awesome community members!”

Nevada Volunteers, the Governor's Commission on Service announced Monday the finalists for the 2016 Governor's Points of Light Awards, the highest honor bestowed on a volunteer in Nevada.

Nevada Health Centers promotes living an active lifestyle to improve overall health and to decrease obesity.

Join the League to Save Lake Tahoe and the U.S. Forest Service for a weed pull on the evening of June 28th in Rabe Meadows near Stateline, Nevada. Volunteers will be helping to remove invasive weeds that are threatening Tahoe’s native plant species and wildlife habitat. Learn about invasive weeds and how to properly remove them.
