Dayton’s family friendly farmers market offers culinary adventures plus local resources, free classes

With summer in full swing, the farmers market in Dayton is the place to be for local flavor on Thursday afternoons, 3 to 6 p.m.
The market offers a seasonal bounty of fresh fruits and vegetables, local honey and jelly, and special items like chard from Dayton’s Solidarity Garden and garlic, rosemary, radishes and apricots from student school gardens.
During their July 20 special Third Thursday event, the Dayton High School Boosters will be selling pulled pork sandwiches, Dust Devil fries and other snacks and beverages. A free class on quick meal planning begins at 4 p.m.

July 18, 2019 - 4:00pm DAYTON — The new "3rd Thursday" events in Lyon County aim to bring groups, families and communities together with family friendly activities. The first event kicks off in Dayton this Thursday July 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. with music, family activities and games, a free BBQ by Healthy Communities Coalition, and information booths by Lyon County libraries, Human Services, Community Chest Inc, Community Roots and Shoots, etc.

The Dayton Farmers Market has opened for the 2018 summer season. The market takes place every Saturday through September from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 60 Second Avenue and Highway 50.
