Central Lyon Fire respond to brush fire in Stagecoach

USDA program to explore agriculture and water management on tribal lands

The Nevada State Museum, Carson City earns grant for digitization, Navajo collection
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Tue, 10/07/2014 - 3:28pmA project to care for, inventory, and digitize Navajo weavings and Southwestern ceramics at the Nevada State Museum in Carson City has earned a $23,118 grant from The Institute of Museum and Library Services. The Reno Fiber Guild and the Carson Sierra Spinners also donated $500 each to help with the local preservation project. Data from the project will be available online in fall 2015.
IMLS museum grants support a wide variety of projects that create learning experiences, strengthen communities, improve care of collections, and provide broad public access.
Carson City Mint Coin Show and Fair runs today and Saturday

Sharp skilled dealers will buy, sell, trade and offer their expertise with free appraisals during the two-day event today, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 23. Held this year at both the Nevada State Museum and the Carson Nugget, the fair includes activities for children, prize drawings, lectures, coin sales and free appraisals with admission.

Colorado River Commission Pays Big Bucks To ‘Double-Dippers,’ But No $350 Hourly Rate
Submitted by admin on Thu, 01/13/2011 - 1:51pmCARSON CITY – Nevada’s Colorado River Commission is one of the state agencies cited in a recent legislative audit as paying some of the highest salaries to former state employees working as contractors, the Nevada News Bureau has learned.
Information obtained as a result of a public records request shows two former state employees, James Davenport and Sara Price, both attorneys, have collectively earned over half a million dollars in salaries as contractors for the agency over the past three and a half years.
