Obituary: William 'Bill' Clarence Thornton, 1934-2019
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sun, 11/17/2019 - 10:27amWilliam "Bill" Clarence Thornton, father, attorney, pilot, part-time cowboy, corny joke-teller, and mentor to many, had his final flight on Tuesday, November 5th, 2019 after gracefully charting his course with Parkinson's Disease for over twenty years. Bill died peacefully at home in hospice care surrounded by loved ones.

Historic Transcontinental Motor Convoy to roll Thursday through Carson City

One of those reminders will be evident once again on Thursday, Sept. 12 to commemorate the Centennial Celebration of the arrival of then Lt. Colonel Dwight D. Eisenhower who joined the convoy to test the shape of America’s roads and military vehicles as part of the first U.S. Army Transcontinental Motor Convoy that started in Washington, D.C. and ended in San Francisco.
Nevada receives nearly $50,000 to launch women’s history project

With the centennial celebration of women’s voting rights on the horizon, the Nevada State Historic Preservation Office is excited to launch its “Nevada Women’s Cultural Resource Project,” which will help tell the story of women’s suffrage and social history in Nevada.

Together, these revered treasures help bring Nevada’s multilayered heritage to life. On June 27, 2019, the National Park Service listed the iconic Maine Street Historic District in Fallon, Churchill County in the National Register of Historic Places.
