Douglas sheriff: 3 near fatal overdoses by fake pills being sold on street containing Fentanyl
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 05/13/2020 - 2:15pmTwo months ago, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office put out a press release regarding counterfeit Percocet pills be sold locally that actually contain fentanyl.
Over the past 72 hours, there have been three near fatal overdoses in Douglas County due to people ingesting these pills. DSCO patrol deputies quickly administering Naloxone, which counteracts the effects of opioids like fentanyl, to save the victims.

“The opioid epidemic is so huge, even in a town of our size,” said Samantha Szoyka, the youth program and outreach coordinator for Partnership Carson City. “As a community, we are starting to talk about it, but people still don’t know what resources are available to them or how they can connect with those resources.”
The vigil, which begins at 7 p.m., will feature a guest speaker and booths distributing information.
