On July 25, Joe Tummarello, a long-term client with Carson City-based sober-living facility Lyfe Recovery, passed away at Carson Tahoe Hospital. By all accounts, a month before his death he had been in fine health for a man of 76. He dealt with COPD and needed an oxygen tank to breathe in the high altitude of northern Nevada, but a check-up with his doctors during May of 2019 showed he was nowhere near the brink of death.

However, after being relocated to Carson City from Lyfe Recovery’s Reno facility, Joe’s medication was withheld and he was denied medical intervention after a rapid deterioration of his health, which ultimately, it is alleged, led to his death.

2:58PM UPDATE: The trailer that was on fire on South Carson Street has been extinguished. The trailer is destroyed. The cause of the fire is under investigation, said Carson City Fire Chief Bob Schreihans. Carson Now had originally reported that it was a semi tractor trailer on fire. It was a trailer.

Carson City man held in Sparks motel shooting

Sparks police say a Carson City man is the suspect in a bizarre incident where at least 100 rounds from three different weapons were shot from the second floor of Motel 6 early Thursday morning. No one was injured but several vehicles were damaged.

Luis Alberto Machado, 34, was arrested following the incident at the south side of the Victorian Avenue motel, after police fired a single shot that missed but forced him to surrender. He faces charges of obstructing with a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon on police officer, trafficking controlled substance and felony property damage.

Carson City Hotel Group takes over ownership of Motel 6 on South Carson Street

Motel 6 announces the opening of a new franchise property in Carson City, Nevada. The 82-room property, which was previously a Motel 6 corporate subsidiary, is located at 2749 S. Carson Street in Ormsby County, near U.S. Highway 395/S. The franchised property is now owned and operated by Carson City Hotel Group, LLC, and Clay Helm has been named the new general manager overseeing the property.

Carson City woman arrested after hiding meth inside motel toilet paper roll

A 39-year-old Carson City computer specialist faces felony and misdemeanor drug charges after authorities found methamphetamine and a glass pipe hidden inside the tube of a fresh roll of toilet paper at a South Carson Street motel room.

According to the arrest report, authorities were called to the Motel 6 on South Carson Street at about 2:30 this morning after reports that possible drug activity and property damage was being done inside the room.
