Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020 that there are 161 new cases and no additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 4,314, with 2,062 recoveries and 33 deaths; 2,062 cases remain active.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020 that there has been a significant increase in positive cases over the last week. Since Nov. 16, 2020, CCHHS has received over 1,000 positive results for the Quad-County region. Due to the high volume of cases, not all positive cases have been contacted. CCHHS is working to investigate the cases and reduce the back log in positive results.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting an additional death due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County region on Monday, Nov. 23, 2020. The individual was a Carson City resident. CCHHS is also reporting 35 new cases and 36 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 2,993, with 2,219 recoveries and 33 deaths; 741 cases remain active.

CARSON CITY — On Sunday, Nov. 1, the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange, the state agency that connects Nevadans to budget-appropriate Qualified Health Plans through the online marketplace known as Nevada Health Link, kicked off its eighth Open Enrollment Period and its second year operating as a State Based Exchange.

The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile in partnership with Nevada Health Centers and Ronald McDonald House Charities, will offer oral healthcare to child (up to age 21) and also to pregnant women at three locations in Carson City this week.

CARSON CITY — With Breast Cancer Awareness Month underway, the Nevada Health Centers Mammovan is celebrating 20 years of service with screenings this week, including one in Carson City on Monday.

Nevada Health Center in Carson City is hosting a drive-thru flu clinic today, Wednesday, Oct. 14. The clinic is from 1 to 4 p.m. in the northeast parking lot of Nevada Health Centers, 3325 Research Way, Carson City.

Carson City Health and Human Services will be combining drive-thru COVID-19 testing and flu vaccination events for Quad County residents in Carson City, Douglas, Lyon, and Storey counties. Residents can choose to receive a flu vaccine and/or a COVID-19 test at each event from the comfort of their vehicle. No appointments or reservations needed.

CARSON CITY, Nev. — U.S. News & World Report, the global authority in hospital rankings, released its 2020-21 Best Hospitals rankings Tuesday, naming Carson Tahoe Health No. 1 for Best Hospitals in Nevada.

The Silver State Health Insurance Exchange (Exchange), the state agency that connects Nevadans to Qualified Health Plans through the online State Based Exchange (SBE), known as Nevada Health Link, announces the Open Enrollment Period (OEP) for Plan Year 2021 will run from November 1 through January 15, 2021 – extending the traditional OEP by an additional 30 days and giving consumers a total of 75 days to enroll in a comprehensive health care plan.

Nevada’s COVID-19 Task Force, formed by Attorney General Aaron D. Ford and U.S. Attorney Nicholas A. Trutanich, has recently received reports suggesting that personal identifying information of some present and past Nevada residents is being used to file fraudulent applications for unemployment benefits.

CARSON CITY — On Monday, Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak signed into law the final bills of the 31st Special Session of the Nevada Legislature.

Lawmakers finalized hundreds of millions of dollars in cuts to state agencies on Sunday, adjusting a budget that is set to lose a quarter of the revenue previously projected because of the pandemic and wrapping up a protracted session marked by false starts and delays.

Members of the Assembly took the first step to formally slash hundreds of millions of dollars from state budget accounts to close a $1.2 billion budget gap Saturday evening.

CARSON CITY — Most uninsured Nevadans now qualify for Medicaid coverage for COVID-19 testing at no cost. Nevada Medicaid now covers COVID-19 testing and testing related services for most uninsured Nevadans, available under the Families First Coronavirus Relief Act.

CARSON CITY — Due to the COVID-19 pandemic’s unprecedented impact on the economy and Nevada consumers, the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada, Federal Communications Commission and National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners are partnering to increase awareness of the federal Lifeline program, which helps eligible low-income consumers access affordable broadband and phone services.

Nevada Health Centers’ Mammovan will offer mammography screenings in Carson City and other areas of northern Nevada over the next two weeks.

On Thursday, Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak highlighted the State’s recent progress in efforts to battle COVID-19 in Nevada. At the end of April, when announcing the Nevada United: Roadmap to Recovery plan, Gov. Sisolak laid out five criteria State officials would monitor as the State began a gradual, phased in reopening process.

Nevadans who have recently lost their job or had a change in income that threatens being able to pay for coverage may be eligible to receive subsidy assistance for their health plans, the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange noted Monday as a reminder to those who may become uninsured.

Nevada lawmakers voted along party lines to approve transferring the entirety of the state’s ‘Rainy Day Fund’ reserve budgetary account to plug massive holes in the state’s budget.

Nevadans have only a few days remaining to enroll in a Qualified Health Plan through Nevada Health Link, the online health insurance marketplace operated by the state agency, the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange.

CARSON CITY — Nevada’s Certified Community Behavioral Health Centers are offering crisis services and telehealth. CCBHCs focus on person-centered and family-centered outpatient behavioral health services and primary care services for the whole family.

Nevada’s request for a major disaster declaration, opening up additional paths for federal assistance under the national emergency proclamation, has been approved, Gov. Steve Sisolak announced Saturday afternoon.

The declaration, which was requested by the state on Tuesday, will allow federal dollars to flow to Nevada to support Carson City and local governments’ ongoing responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. Federal funding is expected to be made available to governmental agencies and certain private nonprofit organizations for emergency protective measures.

CARSON CITY — The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services announced Tuesday additional resources to help applicants use the online benefit portal, Access Nevada, at accessnevada.dwss.nv.gov. The agency is also urging uninsured Nevadans to apply for Medicaid coverage online.

Stimulus Program Information

The coronavirus relief bill passed March 27 by Congress provides payments to individuals who make less than $100,000 a year. The payment total $1,200 for each adult who makes $75,000 or less, plus $500 per child. The payment amounts decrease if you make between $75,000 and $99,000. The income is determined by your latest tax return filed with the IRS. It will use your 2019 taxes if you have filed them already, or your 2018 taxes if you haven't.
