Carson High School's cross country champion Zach Sever to run for Bryan Lions of Tennessee

The high school track season may have ended early this year, but that won’t stop Carson High School’s top senior long distance runner from continuing his running career. On Monday, Zach Sever signed a letter of intent to run cross country and track for Bryan College in Dayton, Tenn.

Senator Square: Senior projects and the special effects for everyone involved

The seniors of Carson High School will deliver their Senior Project speeches on April 18. Each student must deliver an 8-12 minute speech in front of 4-5 Carson City Community members, and this is no easy task as, statistically, many fear public speaking more than death.

Miles Construction hires Jeff Rowan as project manager

Miles Construction has hired mechanical engineer Jeff Rowan to add to their team of project managers. With more than 28 years of experience in the processing and construction industries, Rowan will be leading Miles’ more complex industrial projects.

Rowan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. He holds an ISO 9000 certification, considered the highest standard for quality management in the industry.

Senator Square: Proficiency testing this week at Carson High School

Just a reminder that proficiency testing is this week at CHS. Students taking the proficiency tests will begin their school day at the regular time of 7:45 a.m., while those not taking the proficiencies will start their school day at 10:30 a.m. The following tests will be given on the assigned days — March 2: Math; March 3: Reading; March 4: Writing; and March 5: Science. Getting to the finals of the Walt Disney Imaginations Design Competition was a pinnacle for three University of Nevada, Reno engineering students, who spent a week in a fun and intensive competition with five other finalist universities.
