Carson City supervisors to discuss proposed water rate hike, vehicle purchases and more

The next Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting will be Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Bob Boldrick Theater at the Carson City Community Center located at 851 E. William Street.

On the agenda for discussion includes an increase in water rates, the replacement of 32 city vehicles, water purchases and more.

CARSON CITY — In order to deliver on the objective of giving mountain bikers a true backcountry experience on world-class singletrack that challenges riders as much as it inspires and rewards, and allowing for extra snowmelt time in a potentially record-setting Sierra Nevada winter, Epic Rides announced a date change of the Carson City Off-Road from June 14-16 to June 28-30.

This is the rescheduled hike that was originally listed as Oct. 6. It is an intermediate hike to Marlette Lake. Approximately 10 miles, round-trip, with time for lunch and spectacular views of Marlette Lake. Elevation gain is 700 feet. For fit and experienced hikers.

The trailhead begins from Spooner Lake parking area and heads north towards Marlette Lake on North Canyon Trail. This part of the trip is a dirt road, and approximately one mile.

A Muscle Powered Sunday Hike to Marlette Flume Trail from Spooner Lake to Incline Village

Paul Dominique Laxalt, a former Nevada Governor, United States Senator, Lieutenant Governor and District Attorney, and one of former President Ronald Reagan’s closest friends in politics, died at a healthcare facility in Northern Virginia on Monday. He was 96.

Nevada Forestry: White satin moth outbreak infests 226 acres at Lake Tahoe park

CARSON CITY – The Nevada Division of Forestry conducted trapping and aerial surveys this season, focusing on the white satin moth outbreak at Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park. The survey revealed 226 acres of infestation, ranging from minimal to heavy defoliation.

Muscle Powered Thursday Hike to Marlette Lake

Meet at the Hwy 50 Park and Ride to carpool to Spooner Lake parking lot. We will hike toward Marlette Lake, about 3.5 miles roundtrip. Closed-toed shoes and water are required. Bring a friend and/or friendly dogs. Hats, sunscreen and walking sticks recommended.

Muscle Powered Thursday Hike program are hikes of between 2 to 4 miles in length, often with some elevation gain (no more than 500') and can be on a paved path, smooth wide trail, or single track. The hikes will usually be of approximately 1 1/2 duration.

Nevada forestry officials issue pest alert for white satin moth infestation

The Nevada Division of Forestry has issued a Forest Pest Alert for the white satin moth. The non-native insect is causing medium to heavy defoliation in the North Canyon and Marlette Lake areas at Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park.
