Lake Tahoe agency names Best in The Basin awards for projects and contractors
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 02/21/2012 - 1:16pmRecognized for stewardship and care taken in the building and construction of developments around Lake Tahoe, the 22nd annual Best in the Basin awards were announced Tuesday by the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency.
The TRPA, which sets policy for development around Lake Tahoe, will recognize the winners, listed below, during the 2011 Best in the Basin awards presentation during the meeting of its Governing Board on Wednesday, Feb. 22 in Stateline. Go here for the agenda.
Carson Mall repainting removes last reminders of Gottschalks
Submitted by admin on Mon, 08/15/2011 - 12:21pmThe exterior of the Carson Mall has been getting a makeover recently, and today a crew was covering up the remnants of the old Gottchalks sign on the south side of the mall.
This is just one visible change going on at the Carson Mall. There is also work being done to extend the patio outside the Paradise Cove Cafe. In addition, Alie's Flowers is having a grand re-opening tomorrow at 4 p.m. in their new mall location. Last week, Home Treasures had a grand opening in their new location, too. And the new Thai Thai restaurant has been open for a few weeks.
Carson City animal shelter gets a facelift from chamber leadership class
Submitted by editor on Sat, 09/25/2010 - 1:06pmCarson City Animal Services received a makeover on Saturday thanks to more than two dozen volunteers.
Through the Carson City Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class 2010, this top dog group put up fences, pounded nails and laid down coats of paint, sprucing up the Butti Way animal shelter.
With 17 Leadership Carson City class members present and student volunteers from Western Nevada College, the overhaul is designed to revamp the adoption area by adding new fences, outdoor furniture and dog-friendly shelters.
