Heat wave continues Sunday in Carson City, weather service advises precautions

Strong high pressure will remain over western Nevada today, bringing very hot temperatures with new record highs possible. Highs across the western Nevada valleys will climb to 102 to 108, with highs of 85 to 95 in the Sierra. The anticipated high temperature for Sunday in Carson City is 103.
Expected heat wave prompts Lyon County to develop preparedness list for residents

Weather system may cause area streams and rivers to rise
Submitted by editor on Sun, 04/17/2011 - 12:30pmWarming weather and a chance for rain may cause a rise in local streams and rivers but flooding isn't expected, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
A low pressure system is expected to bring rain to the Sierra and Western Nevada through Monday with snow levels around 8,500 feet before falling to 7,000 feet tomorrow night. About an inch of precipitation is expected in the Central and Northern Sierra and about a half inch in Western Nevada.
