UNR welcomes back students for fall semester; classes begin Monday

RENO, Nev. – Nearly 2,300 students will move into the University of Nevada, Reno’s residence halls starting Thursday, Aug. 25 in preparation for Monday’s first day of classes for the 2011 fall semester.

UNR and Nevada Public Health Association promote National Public Health Week, April 4-10

The Nevada Public Health Association, a partnership of local public health professionals, along with other community and University groups, is hosting a series of free events for National Public Health Week, April 4-10, in the theme, “Safety is no Accident: Live Injury-Free.”

Gov.-Elect Sandoval Names 29-Member Transition Advisory Team

CARSON CITY – Nevada Republican Gov.-elect Brian Sandoval announced today his selection of 29 Nevadans to serve on his transition advisory team, including Bill Bible, former president of the Nevada Resort Association, and state Sen. Dean Rhoads, who backed Sen. Harry Reid’s re-election bid.
The diverse group of community leaders from across Nevada will provide input and feedback to Sandoval on a wide range of issues.

Democrat Lieutenant Governor Candidates Debate, Criticize GOP Incumbent and One Another

RENO – One Democrat running for lieutenant governor criticized the GOP incumbent for being invisible in the job, and all three Democrat candidates appearing at a debate Wednesday evening took jabs at each other as the June 8 primary election day draws near.
