Beuys explained that only art is capable of building an effective social system, and “This most modern art discipline — Social Sculpture/Social Architecture — will only reach fruition when every living person becomes a creator, a sculptor, or architect of the social organism.”
CCAI High School Pic(ks) 2018 Exhibition
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 04/18/2018 - 9:48amThe Capital City Arts Initiative announces its exhibition, "High School Pic(ks) 2018" at the Community Development Building, also known as the Brick, 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City.
Thirty-two artists from Carson, Dayton, Douglas, and Pioneer high schools have work in the exhibit. CCAI will host a reception for the artists on Tuesday, April 24, 5 – 7pm. The free exhibition is available to the public from April 15 – July 9, 2018, Mondays - Fridays, 8am – noon and 1-4pm.

The Brick is open to the public daily, 8am – noon, 1-4pm. The exhibition will remain in the building’s lobby exhibition space from October 23, 2017 through January 11, 2018. CCAI will host a reception for the artists on Wednesday, November 15, 5-7pm in the Brick.
Imaginations Children's Art Class: Silhouette Self Portraits: Expressive Collage

Description: Experiment with multiple layers and clippings from magazines, using colored paper and paint to create an expressive self-portrait! We will examine various artists who use collage to represent many layers of personality. Carson City Visitors Bureau only organization in Nevada to receive NEA grant

St. Mary's Art Center IMAGINATIONS Children's Art Program

This program is designed to offer children a variety of art classes taught by professional art instructors as well as offer family retreats to create artwork together. Our Saturday Art Classes are held once each month with each teaching a different topic or discipline.
Class Dates:
April 8th - Printmaking Class I (ages 13-18)
May 13th - Printmaking Class II (ages 13-18)
June 24th - FUNdamentals of Color: Giant Pinwheels (ages 7-12)
V&T Railroad partners with community college to transform Carson City train station
Submitted by editor on Wed, 11/30/2016 - 12:58pmThe Virginia & Truckee Railroad has partnered with an architectural design class at Truckee Meadows Community College for a conceptual redesign of the V&T’s depot in Carson City. The project provided an opportunity for 16 students to take their imaginations inside the classroom out to the community – in this case for ideas to transform the current depot into a memorable train station.

Imaginations is a design competition created and sponsored by Walt Disney Imagineering with the purpose of seeking out and nurturing the next generation of diverse Imagineers.

It was the first such undertaking of its kind, uniting two states, six local jurisdictions, and the federal government in a shared mission to protect Lake Tahoe’s sensitive environment from overdevelopment.
That effort has shaped the Tahoe we know and love today, and will help shape the Tahoe that we bequeath to future generations.
