Weekend Crime Report: Carson City man arrested for assault with deadly weapon (updated)

Shaun Nicholas Day, 29, was arrested Friday night after allegedly firing a .357 revolver at another man in the 900 block of South Carson Street.

According to the arrest report, the victim said Day was a passenger in a car driven by Chandy Atkins, when the car pulled up alongside, and he and Day exchanged words. The victim then said Day pointed a gun at him and fired once, missing him.

Carson City man arrested for sexual abuse of girl in Iowa

Carson City Sheriff deputies arrested Ronald James Taylor, 40, on a felony warrant out of Iowa that alleges he had sex multiple times with an eight-year-old girl in 2009 and 2010.

Deputies found Taylor at his residence in the 1400 block of North Edmonds on Tuesday and took him into custody. His bail was set at $50,000.

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested Robert Andrew Meinen, 36, Saturday night in the 2300 block of Marian Avenue after he allegedly pointed a loaded shotgun at two neighbors and threatened to shoot them.

Carson City man arrested for selling heroin

David Scott Illig, 24, was arrested Saturday night in the 5600 block of South Carson Street after the Carson City Sheriff's Special Enforcement Team allegedly made two controlled purchases of heroin from him through a cooperating source.

Woman jailed for heroin possession and DUI after slamming car into Carson City deputy

A Carson City woman who injured a sheriff's deputy in an accident Thursday night faces a felony charge of possessing heroin and a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of drugs.

Cecilia Rose Norma Ristau, 19, was arrested at the Highway 395 bypass at Lakeview Hill after slamming her Saturn Ion into Carson City Sheriff's Deputy Dan Ochenschlager as he was putting flares on the road. Her bail has been set at $4,871. In a recorded interview, the woman admitted to having used heroin earlier Thursday night.

Woman busted for heroin week after going to jail

Carson City deputies didn't have to go far to find Emily Scott, 27, who they arrested Thursday for felony drug possession.

According to the arrest report, a hotel employee where Scott was living before she and her roommate were arrested last month for probation violations said he found tin foil with what looked like heroin in it. Later he found a wallet stuffed under a mattress that contained papers with Scott's name on them, plus balloons of what looked like heroin and assorted prescription drug pills.

A 27-year-old Douglas County man faces multiple misdemeanor charges after being stopped in Carson City for reckless driving and then using the opportunity to confront an officer with a stream of obscenities.

According to the arrest report, the man was stopped at around 10 p.m. Monday after driving his 1999 Buick Century erratically, weaving in and out of traffic and following too close to another vehicle. He was paced doing around 40 mph in a 25 mph zone.

Carson City jail prisoner busted for drug possession

A prisoner in the Carson City Jail was arrested Sunday for allegedly being in possession of heroin, methamphetamine and prescription drugs.

According to the arrest report, jail staff received a tip that Audrey Cherie Peebles had heroin and had used it earlier that afternoon. Staff then did a shakedown of all the prisoners in that unit, and found Peebles to be in possession of a ziplock bag with what appeared to be three full and two used balloons of heroin, a small amount of methamphetamine and two pills of suboxone.

Carson City authorities make a number of felony-related arrests

A Carson City man wanted on burglary and grand larceny warrants was arrested early Tuesday morning.

Robert Kenneth Weaver, 44, was taken into custody at about 1:45 Tuesday morning after warrants had been issued by Carson City Justice Court.

Officers responded to the 3200 block of Bowers Lane after it was learned that Weaver was at the location. Officers were allowed inside the home and Weaver was arrested. He is being held on $28,000 bail.

Carson City men face charges after spraying windows with BBs during shooting spree

Two Carson City men face property destruction charges after allegedly shooting out 13 windows inside a building in the 2800 block of Arrowhead Drive that caused an estimated $5,200 in damage.

Eric Dean Larson, 23, faces a felony property destruction charge as well as being in the possession of a burglary tool, a gross misdemeanor. Garrett Wesley Blackwell, 20, faces a felony property destruction charge, a charge of discharging a firearm into a structure, also a felony, and a misdemeanor charge of discharging a firearm.

Carson City deputies arrest three for felony heroin trafficking

Three men were arrested Friday evening at a home in the 1000 block of Colorado Street on a variety of drug-related charges.

Deputies came to the home to serve a contempt of court warrant on Craig McDonald, 57, who reportedly lives in the home with his mother, stepfather, brother and his brother's fiancee. Deputies had received tips that the home was the site of frequent drug activity.

Prescription drug roundups Saturday in Carson City, Lyon County

Prescription drug roundups will be held in Carson City, Dayton, Silver Springs and Fernley this Saturday, Sept. 25.

Bring your unused and expired prescription drugs to the drop-offs for proper disposal by the sheriff's office. Disposal protects the community and its water supply. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

Acceptable items include: Unused or expired prescription drugs, over-the-counter pills, prescription liquids, pet medications and syringes. The Lyon County roundup will not be accepting syringes or medical waste.

Five arrested in Carson City drug sweep at apartment

A Carson City father was arrested early Saturday and faces multiple felony and gross misdemeanor charges after authorities found bags of suspected methamphetamine on the floor of his Fifth Street apartment as he was caring for his two small children.

Meanwhile four people, identified by the suspect as friends, face multiple drug charges.

Brett Steven Jones, 31, was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of methamphetamine and prescription drugs for sale, two counts of gross misdemeanor child endangerment and a misdemeanor drug paraphernalia charge. Bail was set at $10,000.

A Carson City man faces felony and misdemeanor drug charges after he was found to be in possession of heroin and syringes.

Justin Waylon Scott, 21, is being held on $4,764 bail in the Carson City Jail.

According to the arrest report, deputies assigned to the narcotics Special Enforcement Team were assisting an Alternative Sentencing officer in the search for a woman who was a known heroin user, was recently released from jail and was supposedly using again.

Carson City authorities arrest couple in heroin drug deal

A transient couple were arrested on Wednesday and face multiple felony drug charges after allegedly attempting to use a minor in a Aug. 25 heroin deal.

Amanda and Justin Steepe, both 22, face felony charges including conspiracy, sales of a controlled substance, and using a minor as a drug agent. Amanda Steepe also has an outstanding felony warrant for her arrest. Her bail was set at $40,000. Justin Steepe is being held on $20,000 bail.

Carson City authorities arrest men after heroin, meth found

Two men were arrested by Carson City authorities on Saturday after officers discovered heroin and methamphetamine in a car they pulled over because of erratic driving.

Andrew Woodburn, 31, of Carson City, faces charges of felony drug possession for sale; possession of hypodermic needles and drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $15,000 cash bondable.

Joseph Alex Kendall, 23, of Dayton, faces a felony charge of possession controlled substances — methamphetamine and heroin. Bail was set at $2,500 cash, plus Kendall has an outstanding warrant out of Lyon County.

Carson City deputies arrest Dayton man after finding balloons with heroin

A Dayton man was arrested and faces felony drug charges after law officers discovered eight balloons of suspected heroin in his possession.

The arrest was made after Carson City deputies with the Special Enforcement Team were assigned to look for a separate man who had violated his parole, in the neighborhood of 20 College Parkway, at an apartment known for drug activity. The man — who was left to watch a small child — attempted to jump out of a second floor window, according to the arrest report. He was taken into custody.

Carson City Sheriff’s Protective Association endorses Guimont

Deputies of the Carson City Sheriff’s Protective Association have endorsed fellow officer Bob Guimont for the city's top elected law enforcement leadership position.

Of the 75 ballots cast, and 60 returned, Guimont racked up 45 votes, or 86.5 percent of the actual votes cast, followed by incumbent sheriff Ken Furlong with four votes and challenger Bob White, a sheriff's office captain, with three votes. Of the returned ballots, five were marked No Candidate and three of the votes were not counted because they were not sealed.
