Nevada lawmakers will soon take up right to die legislation, just as California lawmakers are also doing, with a bill having passed through a state senate committee vote last month.

The committee on health cleared the California End of Life Option Act, March 25 on a vote of 6-2. All laboratory results for people reported to the Washoe County Health District who were tested for measles have been returned as negative, health officials announced Friday. None of the cases were suspected from the Carson City area.

Shaping up to be the largest job fair ever in Carson City, 55 area employers and 15 employment and educational agencies have signed on for Friday’s event at the Carson City Community Center.

The Feb. 27 fair, hosted by Carson City Health and Human Services in partnership with the Carson City Chamber of Commerce runs from 2 to 4:30 p.m. The fair will offer an early 1:30 p.m. admission for all veterans.

Carson Tahoe statement on health care services provided to prisoners in Nevada

Carson Tahoe Health has issued the following statement regarding health services provided to prisoners in Nevada:

Carson Tahoe has been providing care to Nevada’s inmate population for many years. Previously the Nevada Department of Corrections (NDOC) covered the care of these prisoners through a private, third party insurer - Hometown Health Plan (HHP).

With the advent of the ACA, NDOC decided to do away with private insurance for its prisoners needing inpatient services.
